FOR LEASE

"Fred"

17.1 Thoroughbred Clydesdale Cross 18 years old

Fred is an experienced older horse who would be great for someone who has some  beginner experience, and is looking to further their skills. He's been ridden by an amateur most of his career and is very forgiving of mistakes. He has competed up through Training level eventing. He is beautiful mover on the flat with lots of suspension and very simple to ride over fences. Although he's a big boy he is extremely quiet and mild mannered- he is a real gentleman. He is great on hacks and goes out alone or with company. He can still compete through the novice level, but no higher due to age.

Fred would have to stay at Summit Hill Farm located in Apex, NC. The lease specifications we are asking for is full board, shoes, and weekly lessons with onsite trainer.

This is a great opportunity for an exceptional horse who still has a lot to offer and much to teach.

"Lincoln"

17.0 hand English Thoroughbred 15 years old

Lincoln is a sweet heart of a horse that is looking for the right person to spend his semi-retirement years with. Lincoln was an Intermediate level event horse with my husband and also "taught" me to event at the novice level. Unfortunately, he pulled a suspensory back in 2004 at the peak of his career. After much rehabilitation, he has never come back fully sound to compete. He was used in my lesson program for about a year but due to his size and the strains of being a lesson horse, we stopped using him in lessons. He was a favorite of my students due to his sweet personality and his gentleman like behavior.  He is misses having a job, though he is enjoying all the treats my students still give him!

Lincoln has a lot of personality and still has a lot to offer someone. His mind is definitely not ready to be put out to pasture but his body cannot handle being ridden very hard day after day. His puppy-dog personality and happy-go-lucky nature makes him very easy to fall in love with. He would make someone a great buddy, trail mate, pasture mate or very light riding partner. He is a gentle giant and very safe. I feel safe putting anyone on him, from children to adult. He is not spooky and loves to go on trails. Even after not being ridden for a couple months you can just hop on and ride. He is very inquisitive and loves any kind of attention! We just don't have the time to give the kind of rides and attention he deserves.

If this is something you are looking for I would love for you to come out to meet him. The lease specifications are taking over all his general expenses, shoes, routine vet care, etc. and only light riding! He is a very easy keeper and is pretty much happy anywhere. He needs to go to a very special home as he is a very special horse to us. I would like him to stay in NC if possible. If Lincoln finds the right home and family, we could work out a free to good home situation.
